The Boston Police Strike of 1919





    The Boston Police Strike of 1919 was basically  a strike by the Boston police rank. It was to protest the police commissioner's decision to deny them the right to unionize. The majority of the Boston Police force turned in their badge on September 9th , 1919. The Boston Police force wanted to create a union affiliated with the American Federation of Labor which was known as A.F.of L. 

     It was a group which created representation and  organization for workers who wanted butter and bread labor issues. These patrolmen were not  receiving what  they believed to be a living wage.The Boston Police Strike was caused by the fact that Police Commissioner Edwin Upton Curtis refused to allow the creation of a police union.
