The Boston Police Strike of 1919 was basically  a strike by the Boston police rank. It was to protest the police commissioner's decision to deny them the right to unionize. The majority of the Boston Police force turned in their badge on September 9th , 1919. The Boston Police force wanted to create a union affiliated with the American Federation of Labor which was known as A.F.of L.

It was a group which created representation and  organization for workers who wanted butter and bread labor issues. These patrolmen were not  receiving what  they believed to be a living wage. The Boston Police Strike was caused by the fact that Police Commissioner Edwin Upton Curtis refused to allow the creation of a police union.

World War I

World War I has four major causes. The four major causes are Militarism, Imperialism, Nationalism, and Alliances. Militarism is the belief that the nation needs a large military force. Imperialism is the practice of powerful countries using their influence to control less powerful countries. Nationalism loyalty and devotion to a nation, especially a sense of national consciousness putting ones nation and culture above all others. Last but not least, Alliances which is an organization of people or countries involved in a pact or treaty .

The United Stared got involved in World War I because of this one important event. There was this ship called the Lusitania Ship. The ship belonged to the British. This ship , the Lusitania Ship, was sunk by the Germans and the United Stated got mad because there were 128 American in that ship , therefore they got involved.

There was a peace settlement after World War I.  Wislon's Fourteen Points were  his three goal that he wanted to achieve .

Two Important Laws in U.S History

The eighteenth amendment was the prohibition of alcohol. It was ratified on January, 1933.   Production, transportation and sale of alcohol was banned under this amendment. There was no alcohol consumption allowed in the United States. This amendment was repealed by the 21st amendment. It was actually the only amendment to be repealed in the constitution.

The 21st amendment was the prohibition act towards the 18th amendment. It repealed the 18th amendment the the United States constitution. In February 1933 , Congress passed the 21st amendment. This was ratified on December 5, 1933. As more and more Americans opposed the Eighteenth Amendment, movement grew for repeal.

A Splendid Little War

I think that newspapers and televisons do create wars. Sometimes the newspaper exaggerates the situations and
therfore problems start to grow. Other times , newspapers and televisions don't really start wars , sometimes its the people's reaction on what they hear.

If I ever lived un Europe I dont think that i would be convinced the the U.S. became a great world power by defeating Spain . There are many reasons for my opinion . One reason of why i wouldnt be convinced would be beacuse Spain used to be a powerful country and the United States took over.
